Comic-Con started in San Diego as a place for people who liked comic books. It still is that but it has become much more as it now includes movies, TV, and lots of fans who dress up as their favorite characters. This year I was lucky enough to get tickets for CJ and I to attend on Thursday and Friday. I used to read comic books many years ago but have kind of lost interest. Mostly I was interested in seeing the people dressed in costumes. We headed out mid morning and took the San Diego trolley where there were people in costume. We got off at the Convention Center stop then it was a crowded walk to the registration area. Comic-Con did a great job of organizing this and we got our badges easily. Exiting the registration area left us with badges, big backpack bags, and program guides. Soon we started to see a few people in costume. If you ask nicely almost all of them will stop to let you take their picture.

Our usual camera equipment is a Canon D60 with an 18-200mm zoom lens. Today we went with a Sony DSC-RX100 III small camera. It was nice to have such a light weight camera around my neck as opposed to the heavier Canon. The Sony camera worked great but does have some quirks that make it frustrating. If you take a picture and immediately adjust the zoom for the next shot, you don't get what you expect. The zooming increases the size of the picture you just shot, not the one you want to take. And the camera shuts itself off a little sooner than I expect requiring me to wait while it turns on before shooting a picture. Nothing horrible just things to be aware of while you are trying to take a picture of a costumed participant.
