Seattle Day
Thursday: CJ and I went to Seattle for a short vacation. An exhibition of Dale Chihuly glass and art was a draw but we like Seattle anyway. On Thursday we flew to Sea-Tac airport and took the light rail into downtown. A three block walk got us to our hotel where our room was ready. After dropping the luggage we headed to Cafe Campagne just around the corner. We had a wonderful meal with CJ savoring the quiche while I enjoyed the duck confit salad. Then it was off to Pike's Place market for a short exploration. Of course we stopped by the place where they throw the fish. Middle of the week afternoons are not crowded and we took advantage to do a little shopping for presents. A quiet night in the room finished our travel day leaving us ready for a busy Friday.
Friday: Our dogs, Casey and Bailey, usually get me up around 6:30 am. So we got to sleep in and took advantage. The Bocca Cafe serves a great breakfast
and we took advantage. Arriving after the morning rush we were able to get a table upon arrival. CJ had Eggs Benedict while I chose the Dungeness Crab omelet. Directly across the street was a great looking hat store, Goorin Bros. Hat Shop, and CJ suggested we check it out. I like hats and found a hand made felt fedora to buy. After a stop back at the hotel, it was time to see the exhibition. We had tickets for the monorail which took us to the Pacific Science Center. We quickly found the exhibition entrance and started into the hallway leading to the first room. A black display area showcased the Glass Forest with poured glass bases and blown glass stalks reaching for the sky. The next room had a wooden table with nested glass bowls and woven blankets on the wall behind. The bowls inside bowls are some of my favorite pieces.

The Macchia Forest features very large colorful glass bowls on stands of varying height. The bowls are fascinating!
It was cold and rainy outside but warm and dry inside. We were still dressed for outside so the Glasshouse and Garden were a welcome cool down.
